Jonathan Tah edged the hosts ahead with a cool header in the 32nd minute but their lead was short-lived as the visitors equalised from Sebastiaan Bornauw s headed finish.

Further Wolfsburg joy followed when Mattias Svanberg went on a driving run in Leverkusen s half and curled past goalkeeper Lukas Hradecky on the stroke of half-time.

The travelling Leicester fans were left frustrated by their side s showing, with one fan even making his way onto the pitch to vent at Steve Cooper before being removed by security staff.

But Leicester, who are still searching for their first Premier League win of the season since being promoted back to the top flight, prevailed from 12 yards.

PSG and Bayern double down for Champions League classic

A moment to sum up the unflinching, non-negotiable terms of Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain s instant Champions League classic came just before the hour mark at the Allianz Arena.

Bayern head coach Hansi Flick hollered loudly and gestured insistently for his team to push up, to attack more, having pulled the deficit back to 2-1 but seen no reward thus far for their second-half bombardment of a PSG goal expertly patrolled by Keylor Navas.

Seconds later, Kylian Mbappe burst clear into the snow-flecked open spaces. High line? Fine by me.

Manuel Neuer stared into the whites of the eyes of the forward phenomenon who embarrassed him in the third minute. Not this time.

The experienced goalkeeper stood firm to save, although Mbappe had already embarrassed…

Spalletti hopes Napoli follow Santos´ Pele lead and unretire Maradona´s number 10 shirt

Luciano Spalletti has praised Santos for not retiring Pele s number 10 shirt and hopes Napoli now do the same with Diego Maradona s famous jersey.

Santos announced on Sunday they had dropped plans to leave the number vacant following last week s death of club legend Pele, who previously said he was against the idea.

Napoli retired Maradona s number 10 in 2000, 20 years before his death, as a tribute to the Argentina great s starring role in their only two Serie A title triumphs.

But Spalletti believes making the shirt available again can inspire Napoli s current crop of players, who are on course to end the club s 33-year wait for Scudetto glory.

I want to congratulate those who decided not to retire Pele s number 10, meeting his request, Spalletti said …
